Three Horizons Framework for Innovation
The Three Horizons Framework is one of the tools that the Nourish Anchor Cohort is using to map out their intervention ideas across three different scales of transformation.
As we learned in the workshop with Keren Perla, “The three horizons are about much, much more than simply stretching our thinking to embrace the short, medium, and long-term. They offer a coordinated way of managing innovation, a way of creating transformational change that has a chance of succeeding, a way of dealing with uncertainty, and a way of seeing the future in the present.”

Next steps
Creating portfolios of innovation
Each team should sign up for a coaching session with Keren by April 6th. Keren will assist you in developing your portfolio of innovations, which should be submitted to Nourish by April 25th in order to unlock a $10,000 prototyping grant.
Download the 3 Horizons template
This template will allow your team to map out your ideas along the three horizons. Note that the template is provided on Google Slides, but can be downloaded as a Powerpoint file as well.
Revisit the Miro board
During the webinar, participants mapped out their intervention ideas across each horizon. If you’re looking for inspiration, see the Miro board from the webinar.
Watch the “Braiding the Three Horizons” video"
In this video, we explore how the 3 Horizons framework has similarities to the process of braiding sweetgrass, a sacred medicine for many Indigenous communities.
